Introduction
Welcome back to another exciting article everyone! Today’s article will cover various artworks, spoilers, as well as theoretical cards that could be featured in the upcoming Dragonlord mini set.
Before we begin, please understand that this article is merely speculation backed up with evidence throughout all Sorcery platforms. Also, please understand I’m merely providing my perspective and insight into the possibilities of this exciting set! Please enjoy, let’s begin!
Ed Beard JR’s Dragonlord Mini Set

Confirmed so Far (Sort of)

We begin this article with the Dragonlord himself! The Dragonlord has an amazing concept of being a creator of all things in his storyline. At Sorcery Con 2024, Ed Beard Jr.’s three cards were spoiled with abilities. Dragonlord, Dragon’s Egg, and Fire Dragon.
Dragonlord is our Avatar for the set. It states: “Before the game, choose a Unique Dragon.” By doing so you can pay three mana, to activate his other ability: “If you meet its threshold, gain your Dragon’s abilities this turn or draw it from your collection.” This ability could have massive potential if this set releases more unique dragons.
Speaking of which, Fire Dragon happens to be a Unique with Airborne, and it’s also Immune to Fire Damage. Although these abilities aren’t activated abilities, Fire Dragon’s last ability is an activated ability that states: “Once on your turn, you may discard a Fire card to shoot a projectile. It deals 3 damage.” A powerful ability that can be shared with your Dragonlord Avatar. Fire Dragon does have a hefty cost of seven mana and four Fire threshold but by selecting Fire Dragon for your Dragonlord’s ability, you can always have access to Fire Dragon’s ability or add Fire Dragon to your hand when the time is right.
Our last revealed card with an ability is Dragon’s Egg. This is an Exceptional Relic that costs two mana that states: “At the end of each turn, put a counter on this. Sacrifice – Summon a Dragon from your hand with mana cost equal to or less than the number of counters.” If given enough time, Dragon’s Egg can summon any Dragon in your hand without paying that Dragon’s mana cost. This card could have potential depending on what is released in the set. There’s just one small problem (sort of).
Errata or Revision?

An article was posted on April 29, 2025, on Sorcery’s main website. The article announced the Dragonlord mini set was to debut at this year’s Gen Con. This article also shows what looks like updated versions of Dragonlord, Fire Dragon, and Dragon’s Egg.
Dragonlord is still an avatar however his ability is slightly different. “Before setup, set aside a Unique Dragon. Once on your turn, if you meet its threshold, you may pay 3 to gain its abilities this turn. Very similar effect the Sorcery Con’s version. You still set aside a Unique Dragon, and for 3 mana you can use that Dragon’s abilities. The only difference is that the SorceryCon version only allowed you to use the selected Dragon’s activated abilities. While the website’s version allows Dragonlord to gain that dragon’s abilities that turn. This could suggest that Dragonlord might also gain the “Airborne” and “Immune to Fire damage” abilities from Fire Dragon – I mean – Ignis Rex, if this Unique dragon is set aside.
Speaking of which, Fire Dragon, now called Ignis Rex, has one less threshold requirement, all of its abilities, costs, and power stats are the same as before. The only other difference is its activated ability which states: “Once per turn, discard a fire card – Deal 3 damage to units at target adjacent location.” This ability has slightly less range than it would shooting a projectile however, it deals 3 damage to multiple units at a location rather than deal 3 damage to one unit hit with a projectile.
Dragon’s Egg also received a new name, now known as Cradle of Etherrum. While still two mana, this relic changed from the Exceptional rarity to a Unique. Instead of its original “counter” abilities, it now states: “Any time during your turn, you may look at your next spell. You may cast Dragons from the top of your spellbook for 1 less.” Cradle of Etherrum’s ability does provide immediate assistance when trying to play Dragons, compared to the longer paced “counter” generating ability of Dragon’s Egg.

It is not exactly confirmed if these are truly the finished product of these revealed cards. For now, we will have to wait for any further updates. But don’t worry, there were other cards that were spoiled at SorceryCon 2024. Two cards were spoiled without abilities and only provided their artwork.
Kairos the Archivist

Kairos the Archivist, is a character presented in Ed Beard Jr's Dragonlord storyline. Representing a timekeeper dragon with a vast knowledge and the ability to communicate with the Dragonlord directly hinting that Kairos might be a Unique Dragon that can be selected for Dragonlord’s ability. The artwork of Kairos the Archivist is also nothing short of amazing! According to Ed Beard Jr. himself, this artwork contains 88 different “hidden” symbols or objects that are different records of creation. A fantastic concept. A concept that might give us a clue to understanding Kairos' abilities. But this isn’t the only other clue as far as we can tell. Check this out:
Alchemical Symbols

During Ed Beard Jr’s interview/ timelapse painting video on YouTube, he gave us some insight on Kairos and his role for the Dragonlord. Remember those 88 “hidden objects? Well during his timelapse video, Ed Beard Jr. is seen with what appears to be an alchemy book used as reference for some of the symbols on these objects. Of course this is just speculation, but these objects and their symbols may have some form of relevance in the future.
I tried deciphering the books you see on the bookshelf, but I was only able to make out the symbols for “Nickel”, “Mercury”, and “Manure”. From my own research and personal interpretations of alchemical symbols, this could very well be a recipe. Perhaps a transmutation of base metals? Upon more research I discovered something very interesting:

I stumbled across the very source for these Alchemical symbols. I will provide a link below sharing a free online version of the “Signs, Symbols, and Omens” book by Raymond Buckland. Back to the task at hand:

From here, we can now decipher the books above. From left to right the symbols are:

I couldn’t really tell you what this means exactly. I tried taking the first letters of each meaning (R.A.N.S.M.M.). Not sure if this is an acronym or something but nothing is quite clear. If the symbols are a part of an Alchemical process, nothing comes up in any Chemistry subjects. The only final piece of evidence that I have is this:

Perhaps this is the hidden message. “Heavy Metal?” Or perhaps I’m nowhere close to deciphering the hidden texts in Kairos’ library. Maybe there aren’t any hidden messages… Maybe I’m speculating too far and I’m leading us nowhere… At least… That’s what I thought… Until Ed Beard Jr himself shared this in his dedicated channel in the Collector Arthouse Discord where he engages with fans and shares updates and answers questions…

He talks about this emerald book in Kairos’ library and also provides us with the most important piece to this mysterious clue. A cypher with The Enochian Text.
The Enochian Text

In all my twelve minutes of studying Enochian Text, I may have just deciphered the Emerald Book. Take a look at this:

Pulled from the cipher, you can see the matching symbols. At first glance the text isn’t clear. But that is because the second and fifth symbols each have two letters represented in the cypher. Perhaps, if we remove the O and I we get this:

But that doesn’t seem quite right, does it? Now, if we just keep the vowels and remove the other letters we get this:

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe I just deciphered the Emerald Book. It seems clear that the book states “Goblin”. As for what this means, isn’t quite clear yet. But I imagine this is the first of many clues Kairos has to share.
These symbols are what link the Dragonlord storyline to Sorcery’s Alpha set, representing hidden messages, easter eggs, and alchemy. This familiarity allows us to narrow down the possibilities of this set. This brings me to the final artwork that was spoiled for the Dragonlord set.
The Dragonlord’s Lair

This amazing artwork gives us further clues to investigate. For starters, we can see that the artwork reveals a landscape represented by the union of different elements. This leads me to believe that The Dragonlord’s Lair could be a site that processes each of the four elements of Sorcery.
We see trees and vegetation lined up to the entrance of the lair hinting an Earth element. To the left we see a waterfall of flames and magma hinting at a Fire element. To the right a waterfall and cold icy lands proposing a Water element. Finally, a beam of light appears emerging from The Dragonlord’s Lair into the heavens reigning lightning throughout the sky hinting at the Air element. Our final clue lies with the four mighty Dragons on top of the mysterious lair. Given the fact that Ignis Rex was derived from Fire Dragon, it could be safe to say that there will be 3 other unique Dragons that the Dragonlord can call upon in battle. Each representing their own element.

Further evidence can be found on Ed Beard Jr.’s website. Specifically, in the “Sorcery Art” section. This could very well confirm my theory of the other 3 Unique Dragons. Although nothing has been officially confirmed by Erik’s Curiosa.

Ed Beard Jr.’s website also provides hints for further updated names for Fire Dragon/Ingis rex and Dragon’s Egg/Cradle of Etherrum. We see Harbinger of Fire, and Arum Draconis representing the names of these cards. At this time, we do not know which names and effects will be selected for these cards.

All 13 Dragonlord Cards Revealed?
Take a look at this:

These images were shared with us during Ed Beard Jr.’s timelapse video. On the left is Ed Beard Jr.’s Dragonlord artbook available on his website. On the right is a screenshot shown at the end of the timelapse video. As you can see, the screenshot on the right explains all the copyright information. All except the fifth section. There, you will see a few listed names. Dragonlord, Dragonlord’s Lair, Time Itself, Dragonlord Monolith, The Reaper, and Battle at the Gates are all listed suggesting that these could be names of cards in the set. Dragonlord, and Dragonlord’s Lair are already confirmed cards for the Dragonlord mini set. Dragonlord Monolith is an artwork confirmed as the main artwork for the Dragonlord Box, but it is unclear if this artwork will be an actual card in the set.

We might have some idea as to what Time Itself will look like as well. Look closely:

During Ed Beard Jr.’s interview video he explains the presence of these two familiars that communicate with Kairos, The Day Eye and The Night Eye. Both familiars are within this hourglass, a common object representing time. According to Ed Beard Jr., Kairos is connected to these familiars in a very relaxed way. As powerful and knowledgeable as Kairos is, Ed Beard Jr. depicts this Draconic being as an intellectual one rather than an aggressive, omnipotent, or dominant being. As time goes on, this ancient dragon will eventually disintegrate, replacing his body with mechanical parts. This leads me to suspect that Kairos is communicating with Time Itself in that hourglass in order to document these objects of creation.

The last two names given at the end of the timelapse video are The Reaper and Battle at the Gates. If we look closely at Ed Beard Jr.’s artbook cover, to the right we can spot a reaper like figure on a diabolic looking blue dragon. This could very well be The Reaper depicted in the screenshot. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sorcery included Dragon in The Reaper’s subtype. They could easily state the subtype as: “A Unique Spirit mounts a Deadly Dragon” or something very similar. If such a subtype was finalized, The Reaper could also be used for the Dragonlord’s ability. Adding an extra subtype such as “spirit” would also link The Reaper to other cards already present in the game such as Evil Presence or Ghost Ship.

Battle at the Gates is an artwork that doesn’t seem to come up anywhere, but this could be a hint to another card in the Dragonlord set. Perhaps even an Aura or Site that represents an iconic battle in the Dragonlord lore? If we were to guess the 13 cards based on my speculations we can identify the following:
1. Dragonlord
2. Fire Dragon/Ignis Rex/ Harbinger of Fire
3. Dragon’s Egg/Cradle of Etherrum/ Aurum Draconis
4. Kairos, The Archivist
5. Dragonlord’s Lair
6. Dragonlord Monolith
7. Air Dragon/ Harbinger of Air
8. Water Dragon/ Harbinger of Water
9. Earth Dragon/ Harbinger of Earth
10. Time Itself
11. The Reaper
12. Battle at the Gates
But what could be the 13th card? Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you the frog dragon sorcerer, “Frosc Draconis.”

I believe Frosc Draconis is our 13th card that will be included in the Dragonlord set. Further included in Kairos the Archivist’s artwork, the frog dragon sorcerer can be won through a sweepstakes recently revealed on Sorcery’s main website. If connect to Kairos’ lore, Frosc Draconis may play a part in aiding Kairos document objects of creation. This little guy is seen holding 3 Sorcery cards hinting a form of card advantage that could help support other mechanics in the set. What do you think?
Conclusion
The Dragonlord set builds suspense throughout the Sorcery community. Players, collectors, and even artists alike are all looking forward to the release of this refreshing set produced by the legendary Ed Bead Jr. The Dragonlord Mini Set will contain: “One playset of Dragonlord cards. Each 14-card box contains 13 functionally unique individual cards, and 1 random premium holographic foil card.” There may even be a chance that one of these cards may turn up as a curio. What will these 13 cards be and what effect will they have on Sorcery? All will be revealed during the release of the upcoming Dragonlord mini set. I’m excited and I know you are too!
